Sleeping Beauty the Ballet!

Service Description

In this imaginative Dance Camp we combine the arts of Ballet and Storytelling, dipping our pointed toes into the classic tale "Sleeping Beauty".. the Ballet version featuring a beautiful score by Tchaikovsky, not the Disney version. Think less woodland creatures, way more fairies! Students will have a chance to dance out each role, create their own fairy/bestow their gift on the Princess, and also create costume pieces! We put a feminist spin on the story and alter it a bit, especially the part where the sleeping princess is kissed - no thank you! We will be collaboratively creating a magical chant to wake her up. And the end of the show ends with getting pizza (not marriage to someone you just met!).. pizza crafted from clay that is. In just a week we will put on a full production, with both freestyle dancing to Tchaikovsky as well as learning a piece of simple choreography. Each day will feature Ballet class, crafting, creative expression games, and a snack time. This camp ends with an informal performance sure to wake you from a 100-year nap!
